The Frankfurt Motor Show is turning out quite the showcase for luxury brands with a new concept. While the other brands decide to grab as many eyeballs as possible, Audi has taken it to another level with the Nanuk Quatro Crossover super coupe car. Based on giant 22-inch wheels, this special vehicle is perfectly placed as the cross over between a luxury coupe and a SUV. Simply put, the new Nanuk Quattro from Audi can handle silk smooth city roads and the dirt roads equally well, without causing much of a difference to the passenger.
The reason for its supposed road domination is the sheer brute of the engine. This one is a 5.0-liter V10 TDI dishing out 544 HP, which puts the top speed at 306 kmph, and it takes just around 3.8 seconds to reach from 0 to 100 kmph. The transmission for this kind of engine power a 7-speed S tronic automatic transmission and the Quattro 4-wheel drive system, which makes all kinds of surfacing handling just too easy.
The interiors though luxurious and elaborate by most standards, has been kept simple, and looks are rather non-complicated. Most of the fabrication is high grade gray leather, CFRP, and dark aluminum. Most of the control are driver friendly given the floating instrument panel, which puts up information exactly the way the driver would need. The use of electronics is indeed like a first of a kind, as the rear view mirrors have been replaced by a set of 3 rear views digital displays, which show the view from the rear via small cameras placed where the traditional rear view mirrors would be.
There is no word from the company as to when this car would actually go into production, but a lot of tech and auto geeks would be hoping it comes on road sooner or later. The Audi Nanuk Quattro Crossover super coupe is still very much a concept display at the Frankfurt Auto Show, and the response received there will perhaps determine the future of the vehicle.
