The Apple iPhone 8 Plus will be all-glass, according to an Apple manufacturer.
Speaking at its annual shareholder meeting Allen Horng, chairman and chief executive of the iPhone maker Catcher Technology, said Apple will make its 2017 iPhone using an all-glass casing.
“As far as I know, only one [iPhone] model will adopt glass casing next year,” Horng told reporters on Thursday, suggesting Apple may be planning to offer multiple versions of the iPhone 8.
Horng added that the move would prove expensive and would necessitate some “advanced processing technology” in order for the brand to pull it off, and that the glass would need to be reinforced by a metal frame.
Noted Apple insider John Gruber shared on his podcast The Talk Show that his sources, which we believe are quite exceptional, indicated that the next iPhone would have an all-glass case, edge-to-edge display. Gruber has even heard that the home button/Touch ID sensor might be integrated into the display itself.
