There are a lot of reasons to visit Las Vegas; the food, the gaming, the shows, the people watching. For fans of racing, here’s one more to add to the list.
The American Motorcyclist Association is holding its AMA Pro Flat Track Season Finale at the Orleans Hotel and Casino on November 20th, with the green flag on the 25 lap main event scheduled to drop at 10:15 PM. If you’re a race fan who’s never seen AMA Pro Flat Track racing, you’re missing out. One of the oldest race series in the country, it provides some of the most exciting side by side action imaginable.
It also features great personalities. This is the final year husband and wife Jared and Nichole Mees will compete against each other as Nichole has announced her retirement, while Jared, already a two-time champion, has just a seven point lead in the standings and will be racing for the championship in Vegas.
Another great story are brother and sister, Cory and Shayna Texter. While both are out of the points race, these up and coming riders are bringing a lot of excitement and energy to the sport. Shayna is the first female rider to win an AMA Pro Flat Track main event.
In addition to the AMA Pro Flat Track GNP1 and GNP2 finale, the Vegas weekend will also include the Superprestigio of the Americas, a race that pits the best American riders against others from around the world.
Racing for both events starts at 3:00 PM on both Friday and Saturday with practice and qualifying heats. From 5:15 to 6:30 the Paddock is open to spectators so you can get up close to meet the drivers and see their bikes.
If you’re heading to Vegas and are looking for an event that’s a little out of the ordinary, this indoor motorcycle championship will definitely fit the bill. Tickets for both events are available here.
