Secret Journey II – the new pen from luxury brand Caran d’Ache.
Swiss luxury brand Caran d’Ache pays tribute to the famous authors who traversed Lake Geneva with its Secret Journey trilogy writing instruments. Secret Journey I, which was introduced earlier this year, is an homage to Voltaire, and the newest, Secret Journey II, is dedicated to François-René de Chateaubriand. The latest introduction is a black-lacquer body finished with engravings of the plains, rivers, and mountains surrounding Lake Geneva on rose gold-plating. A tiny ruby marks the city of Geneva, home of Caran d’Ache. The body of the pen is also embellished with an engraved quote from Chateaubriand. There are 300 fountain pens and 150 roller ball pens in this edition, and each fountain pen ($12,500) is fit with an 18-karat gold nib available in fine, medium, and broad sizes. The pen comes in a black-lacquer presentation case accompanied by a raw-glass ink bottle with a stopper plated in rose gold. Secret Journey III, which will be unveiled later this year, is dedicated to Leo Tolstoy. – From Robb Report
