5 Questions with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the Stars of Barbie

In anticipation of the upcoming release of “Barbie,” the highly-awaited fantasy comedy film directed by the phenomenal Greta Gerwig, Pursuitist had the opportunity to chat with the movie’s leading stars, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. With the film’s release date set for July 21, 2023, the duo shared some exclusive insights about their favorite travel destinations and more.

5 Questions with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the Stars of Barbie

Pursuitist: Margot, Ryan. Can you share your favorite destinations, places that you love to travel to?

Margot Robbie: Absolutely, I feel a special connection with Australia, where I was raised. There’s so much to experience – from the Great Barrier Reef to the Blue Mountains. Plus, the food is just something else.

Ryan Gosling: I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for Europe. Italy, in particular, is a treasure trove of history, culture, and of course, food. I could lose myself for weeks exploring Rome or Venice.

Pursuitist: Shifting gears to hotels, any preferred properties?

Margot Robbie: For me, it’s all about unique experiences. The Hotel Cipriani in Venice is stunning – right on the Grand Canal with incredible city views, not to mention the Michelin-starred restaurant and the rooftop pool. And the Peninsula Beverly Hills –  the service is beyond compare.

Ryan Gosling: I’ve always been drawn to places with a bit of history. The Dorchester in London, with its grand marble-floored lobby and chandeliers, has a timeless appeal. The Carlyle in New York City is also special – iconic with a cool past.

Pursuitist: Now, a trip down memory lane. What toys were you both fond of as a child?

Margot Robbie: Dolls, but I didn’t have a Barbie. I’d spend hours playing and creating stories. Also, I had a toy kitchen and toy cars – I’d make elaborate playhouses and stage little car races. I mostly played outdoors.

Ryan Gosling: I was all about Legos. I also had a bunch of toy cars and soldiers – many epic battles were fought!

Pursuitist: In terms of airlines, any preferences?

Margot Robbie: Emirates is definitely one of my favorites. The comfort of their seats in business class and the quality of their food make long flights much more enjoyable.

Ryan Gosling: I’ve always had a good experience with Qantas. All about safety and customer service, and they serve fantastic food and drink.

Pursuitist: Lastly, bonus question, any quick travel advice for Barbie fans?

Margot Robbie: Dive in! Don’t hold back from exploring new places or trying new things.

Ryan Gosling: Yeah, keep an open mind. When you travel, you’re stepping outside of your comfort zone. Discover new cultures, taste unfamiliar foods.

Pursuitist: Margot and Ryan, thank you for your time.
