2027 Toyota Highlander BEV

In scenic Ojai, California, Toyota introduced to assembled media, including Pursuitist, the all-new 2027 Highlander BEV, a fully electric version of its best-selling three-row SUV.

All new Highlanders will be BEVs, with Grand Highlander available as a gasoline/hybrid. The new 2027 fifth-generation Highlander will bow as Toyota’s first three-row battery electric vehicle for the U.S. market.

DESIGN & PRESENCE

The 2027 Highlander BEV delivers a new exterior defined by Toyota’s signature hammerhead front design, full-width LED daytime running lights, flush door handles, and a wider, longer stance.

INTERIOR & COMFORT

Inside, Highlander offers seating for up to seven passengers. Premium SofTex-trimmed surfaces and a tech-forward cockpit featuring a 14-inch touchscreen along with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and available head-up display.

Additional available features include ventilated front seats, heated second-row seating, panoramic glass roof, 64-color ambient lighting, and 45.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the third row folded flat.

POWERTRAIN & RANGE OPTIONS

The Highlander BEV will be available in XLE and Limited trims.

Range and battery options include:

  • XLE FWD – 77.0-kWh battery – 287-mile estimated range
  • XLE AWD – 77.0-kWh battery – 270-mile estimated range
  • XLE AWD – 95.8-kWh battery – 320-mile estimated range
  • Limited AWD – 95.8-kWh battery – 320-mile estimated range

Dual-motor AWD-equipped models deliver 338 combined horsepower and 323 pound-feet of torque, while single motor FWD models produce 221 horsepower and 198 pound-feet of torque.


CHARGING & CONNECTIVITY

With a standard North American Charging System (NACS) charging port, Highlander offers wider access to DC fast charging stations. Toyota estimates 10% to 80% charging can be achieved in about 30 minutes. Standard Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, allowing you to power a campsite or your home in event of a power outage, is an impressive and useful feature of the new Highlander BEV.

Battery preconditioning, plug & charge capability, and remote charging control will be available through the Toyota app.


TECHNOLOGY & SAFETY

Toyota Audio Multimedia with 5G connectivity, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, and a built-in Drive Recorder are standard or available features.

Toyota continues to be an industry leader in vehicle safety with Safety Sense 4.0 standard. The comprehensive safety suite includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Proactive Driving Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, and Front & Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking.


MARKET POSITIONING

As the fourth BEV in Toyota’s U.S. lineup, Toyota is banking that the 2027 Highlander will strengthen the brand’s electrification strategy. Sales are expected to begin in later this year.
