If you peruse the vehicle reviews here on Pursuitist, you’ll see a wide range of coverage of luxury and super luxury cars and SUVs. What you won’t see, until now, are reviews of pickup trucks. It’s not that pickups aren’t a key component of the Pursuitist lifestyle, as many of you own large properties, horses, camping trailers, and towable boats and toys. But we typically don’t count these useful vehicles in the luxury category. Well, things have changed with the launch of the new 2025 Ram 1500.
Now for those who love Ram trucks for their rugged nature or high performance, rest well knowing the 2025 Ram 1500 is available in a trim level to suit your needs. I’ll list available trims later in this story, but from a luxury perspective, I’ll focus on the top “Limited and Tungsten” trims, as both ride and drive like a luxury Sport Utility Vehicle. In fact, they ride better and are quieter than my Lexus LX 570.
Ram 1500 Exterior
The 2025 Ram 1500 continues the muscular presence Ram is known for. Up front, the full LED Adaptive Front-lighting System includes twin bi-functional projector headlamps, fog lamps and taillamps with up to 15 degrees of direction control with steering input. A new, larger, forward-leaning grille makes the bold statement Ram devotees love.
Side character lines stretch the length of the 1500 from front to rear, tying together the front fender, cab doors, and bed fenders; enhancing the side profile. New rear LED taillamps complete dominant styling.
New for 2025, the Ram 1500 offers a power open/close tailgate with obstacle detection. A multi-function tailgate continues to be available and the weatherproof, lockable, illuminated, and drainable “RamBox” storage bins are unique to the pickup segment.
Ram 1500 Interior
At the Limited and Tungsten trim levels, it’s all about a premium experience inside the Ram 1500. Ram’s interior design team focused on premium textures; colors; and carbon-fiber, metal, and leather interior materials to deliver high-end SUV levels of luxury.
Overhead, a dual-pane power glass sunroof is optional on all trim Crew Cab models (except Tradesman), and is standard on top trim Tungsten. In addition to allowing a great amount of light in when needed to brighten the interior, with the sunshade closed, there is minimal noise intrusion from the large sunroof cavity.
Ram 1500 High-Tech
Ram’s intuitive “Uconnect” telematics system, arguably the best in the business, now offers more connected services and features, including:
- An improved 12-inch touchscreen with higher resolution and new 14.5-inch reconfigurable touchscreen displays that feature split-screen capability for dual application operation
- A new 10.25-inch front-passenger screen with three major functions: co-pilot (navigation, device management), entertainment (via HDMI), and the ability to view the exterior vehicle cameras
- Ram’s advanced “Atlantis” electrical architecture enhances Uconnect 5 with operating speeds that are five times faster than the previous generation, allowing for lightning-quick response to touchscreen input in as little as .05 seconds.
Additionally, Level 2 and Level 2+ automated driving is available on higher trim levels. Active Driving Assist and Hands-free Driving assist for hands-on and hands-off (the steering wheel) driving. During our test drive, both systems worked very well.
Ram owners can now add a digital key to their smartphone or watch to access and start their vehicle. After enrolling in Ram Connect and downloading the Ram app to a compatible device, owners can create and store digital keys in their smartphone’s wallet.
The new 1500 also features a crystal clear, full-color Head Up Display (HUD). The comprehensive HUD offers a wealth of information, including Lane Departure and Lane Keep Assist warnings, adaptive cruise control information, turn-by-turn navigation, current speed, current gear, and speed limit. All HUD settings can be personalized and saved within driver profiles.
Available class-exclusive dual wireless phone charging enhances functionality for front passengers and connectivity ports that are sculpted for quick recognition.
Doing its best impression of a concert hall on wheels, the top-trim Ram 1500 “Tungsten” features a 1,228-watt Klipsch Reference Premiere audio system as standard equipment. It’s the most powerful factory sound system available in a truck today. The system features 23 speakers, a 12-inch subwoofer, and two one-inch titanium dome tweeters.
To test the system’s mettle, I dialed up the classic Peter Frampton Live song, Do You Feel Like We Do.” It is THE most impressive system I’ve ever heard in any vehicle, period.
The Premium-Plus 19-speaker system standard on Limited trims also delivers impressive sound.
Ram 1500 Powertrains
Lower trim levels (Tradesman-Big Horn-Lone Star) come standard with a 3.6-liter Pentastar eTorque engine, coupled to an eight-speed transmission. Tradesman-Big Horn-Lone Star and Laramie come standard in 4×2 guise, with 4×4 optional.
Tradesman, A 3.0-liter Standard Output twin-turbo engine (SST) is optional on these trims.
Ram Rebel and Laramie trims are only available with the SST engine.
Limited Longhorn, Limited, and Tungsten trims are only available with the 3.0-liter High Output twin-turbo (SST HO) engine is optional on these trims.
Horsepower numbers range from 305 (base) to 402 (SST), to 540 (SST HO).
Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and Tungsten are only available with 4×4 drivelines.
Ram 1500 Limited/Tungsten Driving Impressions
With abundant leg and headroom in both rows for my 6’9” frame, I thoroughly enjoyed my drive time in the Limited and Tungsten models. Superb power from the SST HO engine delivered the oomph necessary to propel the Rams with authority.
The supple ride for Limited and Tungsten is all about long-distance comfort. Dial it in to suit your comfort and driving assistance, and enjoy 400-mile jaunts without tiring. It’s really that impressive.
Well done, Ram!
Ram 1500 Safety
Pickup trucks have come a long way in terms of safety. There are separate safety standards for trucks and passenger cars, and there was a time not so long ago that pickup trucks were not required to meet roof strength and certain rollover federally mandated safety metrics.
Today, pickups are as safe as any vehicle on the road, as long as drivers understand that the physics of driving a tall vehicle like a pickup or Sport Utility vehicle are different from a lower-height passenger car.
Irrespective of that fact, Ram has imbued the new 2025 Ram 1500, with more than 100 available active and passive safety and security features.
Ram 1500 Pricing
Prices for the 2025 Ram 1500 start at $40,275 for base Tradesman trim, and rise across the eight available trim levels to $75,450 and $87,320 for Limited and Tungsten trims, respectively.
Ram calls the 2025 Ram 1500 “The Strongest Ram 1500 Ever.” We agree, and add “Most Luxurious Ram Ever” to the equation.
