The winners of the 2014 James Beard Foundation restaurant and chef awards were announced on Monday. Nancy Silverton, chef of Osteria Mozza in Los Angeles (pictured above), took home the top honors as the nation’s most outstanding chef while Cronut creator Dominique Ansel was named the nation’s top pastry chef. A Pursuitist favorite, Jimmy Bannos Jr. of Chicago’s The Purple Pig (pictured left) was a co-winner in the rising star chef category, who shared the award with Blaine Wetzel of The Willows Inn on Lummi Island, Washington.
