In anticipation of the Frankfurt Motor Show this year, BMW is one brand that will look to make it’s presence felt rather strongly. Though this is a common aim for a larger share of auto brands present there, BMW has the power to back it up by introducing some heavy duty technology at the event. Amongst the rest, will be it’s latest luxury SUV, the 2014 X5 M50d. Needless to say, the engine will be an engineering powerhouse, but new technology makes it a powerhouse in that department too.
BMW generally has been the luxury brand, that has shown a strong presence of the sporty element in it’s creations. The M50d SUV had been built on those lines, made most prominent by the front and rear aprons, larger wheels, and the ferrous gray shade of the rear view mirrors. Other changed and sportier looking tweaks include the wider air intake system along with the flared front fender, which this time has been changed to vertical designs this time around.
The engine Euro VI complaint 3.0-liter tri-turbo diesel operating machine with a power generation capacity of 381 HP. This has been mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission system, and the BMW X-drive all-wheel driving system. For the sake of speed thrills, one can reach from 0 to 100 kmph within a span of 5.3 seconds. The hardworking engineers have ensured that the fuel economy in the car is at least 10% more efficient than the last edition of the X5 M50d, dishing out an economy of 35 mpg.
