Much-hyped luxury electric car maker Tesla announced initial pricing for their Model S luxury sedan.
There are different pricing tiers – depending on battery size. The intro model will start pricing at just over $57,000. This model will sport a 160 mile range. You can pay an extra $10,000 for a 230 mile range battery, or $20,000 for a 300 mile range. Each vehicle will qualify for a federal tax break – currently at $7,500.
The Model S is scheduled to go on sale in mid 2012, first as a limited edition ‘signature series’ – we assume at a higher price – before being made available to the public at the $57,400 intro price.
