Forbes has compiled 10 of the best national parks in the United States to go and visit.
The late actor Paul Newman once quipped, “Why should I go out for a burger when I can have steak at home?” In the midst of the worst economic strife in decades, Americans have been taking this advice to heart when picking a summer getaway. Vacationers are eschewing expensive international excursions in favor of America’s own natural wonders like Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon. According to a survey by TripAdvisor.com, 73% of Americans plan to vacation in a national park this year, up from 62% a year ago. Utah’s five parks alone attracted 5 million visitors in the first half of 2009, up 6% from last year. – From Forbes
