While Louis Vuitton has already starred a robotic diva to promote their new LV and Me jewelry collection for the holidays, the French fashion house’s new face of Spring-Summer 2016 campaign is a video game character. The brand’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquiere introduced Lightning, a character from the successful video game franchise Final Fantasy.
Nicolas has shared images and a video of its “Series 4” campaign on Instagram, stating, ‘Reality and fantasy become one : lightning a genuine heroine in the new @louisvuitton series 4 ad campaign’. It is created in collaboration with game developer Square Enix and its main character designer Tetsuya Nomura.
LV’s newest muse Lightning is a pink-haired, samurai sword-wielding heroine. She is captured posing with the brand’s latest handbag collection. Also a short video shows her in action, as she holds on to the handbags while spinning and leaping. Lightning is also clad in creations from Louis Vuitton’s spring/summer 2016 fashion show which was inspired by virtual reality and digital media.
Also this is not the first time Final Fantasy characters have surfaced in the world of fashion. In 2012, sporting Prada designs, Lightning and her fellow characters were spotted in a Japanese magazine.
Video Update – Louis Vuitton Presents Series 4: Lightning: A Virtual Heroine by Square Enix. Maison Louis Vuitton explores the infinite possibilities of the virtual world and asks this fantasy character to interpret the essence of a heroine.
