In Las Vegas, it seems that newer, bigger and better is often the way to to go. That’s not the case at XS, the nightclub inside Encore, a Wynn Resorts property, which celebrates its five year anniversary this weekend with a performance from DJ Kaskade, and, of course, an epic party. After five years in business, the club is still one of the strip’s most popular nightlife destinations for locals, visitors and celebrities alike.
And of course, there’s no better way to showcase that you’ve still got it than with a high-ticket item. So XS has unveiled the “Five Star,” a $5,000 cocktail celebrating the anniversary, available only in 2014.
Playing off the club’s anniversary and parent company Wynn Resorts’ five star reputation–they collectively hold more Forbes Travel Guide Five Star awards than any other independent hotel company in the world.
The cocktail itself is a blend of Louis XIII Rare Cask 42.6, Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve 23-year, Martini Gran Lusso 150th Anniversary Vermouth, D.O.M. Benedictine “Black Monk” 500thAnniversary Edition, along with Peychaud’s Bitters, Angostura Bitters and garnished with flamed orange oils. The drink is made tableside and delivered on a specialized gold tray.
What’s shocking to us isn’t the price– but that’s its not even the most expensive drink on the menu! The Five Star joins The Ono, the specialty cocktail which has been in place since the opening. The Ono is made with Charles Heidsieck Champagne Charlie 1981 and Louis XIII de Remy Martin Black Pearl cognac. We’re not sure which one we’d rather have, given that The Ono includes men’s sterling silver XS cufflinks and a woman’s 18K white-gold chain with a black pearl pendant as well as the drink itself.
So tell us — would you pay $5,000 for a single drink?
