Looking for a great, inexpensive single malt Scotch? Try the Balvenie DoubleWood 12 year.
The Balvenie DoubleWood is a 12 year old single malt which gains its distinctive character from being matured in two woods. Over its period of maturation it is transferred from a traditional oak whiskey cask to a first fill European oak sherry cask. Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single malt ~ the traditional casks soften and add character, whilst the sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavor.
DoubleWood has a pleasant amber hue – not too dark, but rich and golden. Your first whiff will reveal a sweet and fruity aroma. On first taste, you’ll find The Balvenie DoubleWood to be smooth, mellow and quite sweet. You’ll notice a spicy and nutty flavor as it hits the palette. It then finishes warm and easy.
The Balvenie DoubleWood is a great, accessible Scotch – perfect if you’re trying to introduce someone to the single malt experience.
Cost is very reasonable for such an exceptional Scotch – you can find a bottle for around $40.
The Balvenie makes some of the best single malt Scotches in the world – so no matter if it’s the DoubleWood or another of their Scotches, it’s a great ride for any single malt fan.
