Christmas at Claridge’s is a very special time of year. The five star hotel at the corner of Brook Street and Davies Street in Mayfair, London combines timeless glamour with sophisticated style every festive season to experience the magic. The hotel’s Christmas tree has been the center of attraction as every year it is designed and decorated by renowned designers from the fashion industry. Last year, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana put up a lavish 22 ft Christmas tree displayed in the lobby. This year the duo have been roped in to celebrate Christmas together for the second time.
The Italian designers have moved on from last year’s native Sicily in Italy to give a magical enchanted woodland makeover in 2014. To up authenticity, the tree’s décor will boast of many woodland animals like foxes, deer and squirrels that gather near the fire. The tree will glam up with X’mas baubles that will depict landmarks from various cities around the world. Decked in the festive lights the tree brings together many different cultures around the world under one roof in the hotel’s foyer. The D&G X’mas tree will be unveiled on 19 November.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, who are long-time friends and guests of the hotel, have expressed, “Christmas is the happiest time of the year for children and we want to celebrate it with a tree that brings together all the different cultures from around the world. We thought of an enchanted forest where the real meets the unreal, just as it does the night before Christmas. It is a very special tradition because it helps spread our love for Italian craftsmanship around the world.”
Located in Mayfair, Claridge’s is one of its most desirable and historic addresses. Its elegant seven storeys are within easy walking distance of the chic shopping on Bond Street, art galleries and auction houses, and the leafy acres of both Green and Hyde Parks. It is the perfect base to explore London during the festive season.
