Wine Camp In Sonoma Wine Country

Pursuitist Luxury Best Luxury Blog

You could call it the grown-up version of summer camp. Every fall, in the heart of California’s wine country, wine lovers can take their passion further by getting their hands dirty and learning exactly how their favorite tipple is made in a three-day crash course dubbed Grape Camp.

For every oenophile who has romanticized about picking grapes under the rays of an early morning, Sonoma sun, with “the sweet fragrance of ripening grapes in the air” the wine camp is billed a hands-on experience that also rewards workers with gastronomic meals amidst miles of vineyards and bottomless wine tastings.

After an early morning wake-up call and a California breakfast, participants will be led out into the Russian River Valley and Dry Creek Valley where they’ll harvest wine grapes, and dive feet first into a vat of grapes for crushing.

Between lunch and dinner, they’ll also be led on winery tours, and learn about the art of wine blending and other educational seminars.

Though the 2014 edition, scheduled for September 22-24, is full, registrations for 2015 are being accepted.

Prices start at $2,000 USD per person, $3,700 per couple.
