U2 lead singer Bono has launched this week a capsule collection of sunglasses, in support of the Brien Holden Vision Institute’s “Buy Vision, Give Sight” initiative.

The sunglasses range, called “Vision over Visibility,” were designed in collaboration with Revo, and $10 from each pair sold will go towards providing eye care to people around the world who can’t afford or can’t get access to treatment. Available now, the glasses retail for $249.

“This is personal for me. I’ve been dealing with glaucoma for 20 years,” said Bono. “The Brien Holden Vision Institute is leading the fight to end the kind of blindness and vision problems that can be prevented or cured. They now have an ally in Revo, and me.”

According to the Brien Holden Vision Institute, nearly 75 per cent of all types of vision impairment can be avoided or treated with the right access to the right expertise. Nevertheless, over 600 million people around the world are blind or vision impaired because they can’t get access to or are unable to pay for eye care.

“Most of us take basic eye exams for granted but millions of people around the world cannot access or afford them,” said Kovin Naidoo, CEO of the Brien Holden Vision Institute. “We are committed to changing that.”
