There was anarchy – or lack thereof – at the Metropolitan Museum of Art this week, as hundreds of celebrities flocked to the steps for the annual Met Gala. The theme was “Punk,” in celebration of the Met’s newest costume exhibit “Punk: Chaos to Couture,” but there was much discrepancy as to whether guests actually adhered to the theme. Event curator at Costume Institute Chair Anna Wintour, for example, showed up in a Spring-themed floral gown from Chanel.

To celebrate the new exhibit and the Gala, luxury online retailer Moda Operandi held an auction before the event that allowed women to purchase gowns worn by celebrities such as Gisele Bundchen, Kate Bosworth, Emma Watson, Dakota Fanning, Taylor Swift and Olivia Wilde.

Meanwhile, Gucci faced a loss this week by losing its trademark faceoff against Guess. Gucci claimed that Guess violated several of its trademarks, and even took the step of canceling three of the marks Gucci had registered for Italy and the European Community, but these were rejected by an Italian court. Gucci says that it will “certainly bring an appeal.”

Mr. Missoni and his wife Rosita first set up shop in 1953 and eventually passed the business on to their three children Luca, Vittorio and Angela.
