The St. Regis Singapore Debuts The Art of Living Tour Featuring Picasso and Botero

The St. Regis Singapore is Debuting the Art of Living tour which provides guests with a private curated tour of the hotel’s impressive paintings and sculpture collection that includes works by Pablo Picasso, Fernando Botero and leading Asian artists such as Georgette Chen.

The Art of Living tour is an exclusive 30-minute tour of one of the finest art collections in Asia, as the luxury hotel is home to more than 70 hand-selected original works of art, including sculptures, paintings and prints by distinguished international artists.

The thoughtfully curated tour, which is reserved for hotel guests only, is conducted each evening by the hotel’s resident art connoisseur who shares interesting insights into the lives of some of the world’s most renowned artists and the inspirations behind their masterpieces.

As guests arrive at The St. Regis Singapore, they are greeted by Fernando Botero’s “Reclining Woman” and the late Singaporean abstract artist Anthony Poon’s architectural wave sculptures line the street for the enjoyment of those strolling by the hotel.

In the hotel’s elegant Astor Bar, guests can sip cocktails and take in Pablo Picasso’s Toros Series of 10 lithographs on the art of the bullfighting line the walls. The special tour also showcases a range of impressive art pieces from the distinctive Singaporean Arts by pioneering Nanyang Artists like Cheong Soo Pieng and Chen Wen Hsi to contemporary Singaporean artists including Eng Tow, Lim Joo Hong, and Chen Ke Zhan.

The hotel’s restaurants also display the works of some leading Asian artists. Diners at LaBrezza are observed by a cherubic-like Buddha resting peacefully on top of a metallic cloud in Float to Sukhavati,a sculpture by leading contemporary Taiwanese artist Li Chen.

Extraordinary works of art awaits diners in the award-winning fine Cantonese restaurant Yan Ting. A series of stunning canvases depicting the four seasons are by collaborating Singaporean artists Joseph Lim, Phoebe Yang and Zhang Chunlei. Nearby is a treasured fan painting by Chinese artist Qi Baishi, known for being a self taught painter who resisted the influence of western techniques and remained true to traditional techniques of the Ming and Qing Dynasty arts.

In addition to the art collection in the hotel’s public areas, many of the 299 luxurious rooms and suites in The St. Regis Singapore are also show case original artworks to complement the plush furnishings and elegant setting for guests to enjoy. The Presidential Suite features art by American abstract expressionist painters like Mark Tobey and Sam Francis, as well as French expressionist Marc Chagall, among other art works. The art in the guest rooms is not part of the Art of Living Tour.

The Art of Living Tours start at 6:00 pm daily for a maximum of eight guests from Opera Gallery, which is located in the hotel. The tour is complimentary and is on a first come first served basis.
