The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach has undergone a multi-million dollar renovation of its 375 guestrooms and suites, led by Diego Gronda from Rockwell Group Europe – the Madrid office of New York-based architect David Rockwell.

Rockwell Group’s objective was to stay true to the guiding design principles of the luxury hotel’s brand: unbuttoned elegance, glamour, art, timelessness, a sense of urban retreat, and a casual chic aesthetic. These concepts have been manifested through all gestures while maintaining a refined, timeless, and engaging look appropriate for the evolution of Ritz Carlton South Beach.

Design elements are further revealed through adapted and evolved gestures symbolic of historic architect Morris Lapidus’ signature style. The geometry, materiality, and lighting in the luxury Californian hotel’s lobby entry wall—a series of chrome spheres backlit on a curved wood wall—provided inspiration for Rockwell Group to reinterpret and renovate the luxury hotel’s spaces.
