From Ferraris and Lamborghinis, to Bugattis and Porsches, serious car collectors will be offered an exclusive opportunity to own the pinnacle model of each of the world’s most celebrated marques as RM Sotheby’s is heading to Monterey, California with the most significant and valuable private automobile collection ever presented at auction. Dubbed The Pinnacle Portfolio, the collection will roll in with the world’s rarest and most important sports and super cars, from one of the finest Ferrari 250 LMs in existence, to a road-race hybrid 1998 McLaren F1 “The Road Going LM”.
The private automobile collection of post-war sports cars comprises an exceptional series of approximately 30 automobiles, each of which represent key milestones in automotive design, engineering and performance.
The collection spans 57 years of automotive history and design, from a matching-numbers 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing Alloy, one of just 29 aluminum-bodied examples, to a 2012 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport. Other highlights include a bookend pair of Bugatti Veyrons, and the final Enzo gifted to the late Pope John Paul II. 
Other wheels that promise to make jaws drop and fetch impressive amounts include a Jaguar XJ220, a Koenigsegg CCXR, the limited-edition Lamborghini Reventón, a 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, Maserati MC12, a 1998 McLaren F1 “The Road Going LM” and a Porsche 959.
One of the collection’s many stars, a road-race hybrid 1998 McLaren F1 “The Road Going LM”, was unveiled at Sotheby’s New York headquarters and is currently on display for public viewing.

RM Sotheby’s flagship Monterey auction, held during the world-famous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance week, will head to downtown Monterey, California, August 13-15. The Pinnacle Portfolio will be offered during an exclusive, standalone auction on Thursday, August 13.
