Director Spike Lee has placed his historic Manhattan townhouse on the market for a whopping $32 million. Lee paid $16.6 million for the property in 1998. The residence features over 8,000 square feet of living space, five bedrooms, three fireplaces and two internal courtyards, including one with a fountain.

The townhouse, located on 63rd Street, is also known as Hatch House, and it has an interesting history. It was built in 1916. The design was a modern Spanish Revival style done by Frederick J. Sterner.

Some previous owners include Broadway producer Charles B. Dillingham, artist Jasper Johns and famed burlesque stripper Gypsy Rose Lee (who reportedly would host wild parties at the residence).

Lee has been directing, writing, acting and producing movies for nearly 30 years. His films include ‘Do the Right Thing’, ‘Malcolm X’ and ‘Inside Man’. He has been nominated for two academy awards.
