You know it as a wireless speaker company that helps you turn up the tunes. But Sonos has just opened its first brick-and-mortar retail store — 101G — and this place is making more than major soundwaves.
While the pièce de résistance may be the Sonos store’s 300-speaker Wall of Sound at the rear, the store is actually made up a series of unique spaces and Listening Rooms. In each, you can experience state-of-the-art sound featuring the work of celebrated New York and international artists.
This place isn’t just a hub, but rather a home, literally dedicated to the art of sound. Each listening room is themed to represent a room: A Kitchen, a Study, a Living Room with soundproof glass so you can see the cool interior from the Hall, but not experience the Sonos play:1 to play:5 speakers and subs until you’re inside enjoying them as you would in each room in your own place.
101G (G is for Greene Street) is truly unlike any other SoHo store. You may go in to shop for sound, but you’ll stay and hang out for the sensory inspiration.
