American actor Sean Penn’s Malibu estate has hit the market for $6.55 million. The 54 year old award-winning actor had purchased the property in 2009 for $3.8 million.
The gated 1.42-acre Point Dume property is home to a single-story ranch-style home along with a separate guesthouse. Built in 1960, the 3,200 square feet structure is laid out in a U-shape along with courtyard space.
Comprising of five bedrooms and five bathrooms, the home also features a formal entry, living room with a fireplace as well as a built-in entertainment unit and dining rooms and a kitchen that opens to a family room.
Architectural details include vaulted beamed ceilings in the small family room which also boasts of wall of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves.
The rear end of the property is dotted with a swimming pool, terraced gardens, mature trees and lawn. The estate also holds a maid’s room which can also be used as a office located next to the garage. The motor court can accommodate upto ten cars.
Apart from rubbing shoulders with neighbors like Barbra Streisand, Kenny G and Julia Roberts, the new owner of the Sean Penn’s Malibu retreat will also have access to the much-coveted and all but entirely private Riviera III beach.
Two-times Oscar award winner Penn has had two marriages behind him too. Though he is currently dating actress Charlize Theron, his ex-wives include singer Madonna and actress Robin Wright.
