The lights of the Christmas tree at the Rockefeller Centre in New York were turned on yesterday, to the usual throng waiting for the tree lighting.

Said a visitor, Nicole Verone: “I feel like it’s very important because the thing of Christmas and everyone in New York, they just come out and you know support, and you know some people don’t have trees they are homeless and you know they don’t have certain things, so you come out to see this beautiful tree where all 45,000 lights are there, it’s pretty amazing.”

Said Rachel Drosdick-Sigafoos, owner of the tree: “It’s so cool that something from our little farm is now in the middle of New York city and is such an icon for the New York city Christmas, I’m so excited to be a part of this.”

Another visitor, who would only be known as Hunther, said it was a staple of New York City at Christmas time.

“There’s… I would say… of everywhere in New York city that represents Christmas, I would say the Rockefeller Center,” he said.
