Petra Kvitova, of the Czech Republic, has defeated Eugenie Bouchard, of Canada, on Saturday at the All England Club. Kvitova defeated Bouchard 6-3, 6-0 to win the Wimbledon women’s tennis title.

Bouchard, a 20-year-old Canadian, had captured the affection of her country and of the British tabloids, her looks, play and marketability drawing her gawking comparisons to Maria Sharapova. Bouchard now has something else in common with Sharapova. She, too, has been dominated by Kvitova in a Wimbledon final.

Kvitova won her second Wimbledon championship on Saturday with a near-perfect deconstruction of Bouchard, the victory taking only 55 minutes in front of a crowd both stunned and impressed. Bouchard was broken six times in a row, denying her a first Grand Slam title.

Fittingly, Kvitova’s breathtaking performance came in front of her childhood hero Martina Navratilova, whose win against Andrea Jaeger 31 years ago was the last Wimbledon final to take less time than this ruthless demolition.
