Organizing Your Kitchen Cabinets with Nate Mell, Felt+Fat CEO

Nate Mell knows his way around a kitchen after working in restaurants for almost eight years and building his own ceramic design and manufacturing studio producing custom tableware for both professional chefs and at-home cooks. He served in restaurants where chefs held organization and cleanliness at a high standard for success.

  1. Start with a Clean Slate

It is best to clear the clutter and give all cabinets, drawers, and other storage spaces a good clean when it comes to getting organized. Most people will find this beneficial as they can see how much space they have for storage and how much stuff they previously stored in that space. 

 

  1. Out with the Old and in with the New

Taking everything out of clustered cabinets and setting it all in the same location will give a good image of what kitchen tools are being shoved away versus used regularly. The things used the most in the kitchen are what needs to be the most accessible—no more battling with the unused kitchenware blocking the way. For those looking for a gadget upgrade, this is the perfect time to give away unneeded kitchen things that do not fit in the kitchen storage space available. Then the hunt can start for new kitchenware that best fits in style and size.
