The iconic NY restaurant reaches a milestone.

The French walnut walls of the legendary Four Seasons restaurant, home to New York’s quintessential power lunch, rocked Thursday night as nearly 900 revelers gathered in Phillip Johnson’s famed, 20-foot-high Grill and Pool rooms to celebrate the restaurant’s 50th birthday. Among the first to arrive at the bronzed Seagram Building in midtown Manhattan was Mort Zuckerman who stated that “the low-prices” are why he returns so often to the iconic canteen, which has thrived as a New York landmark for an unprecedented half-century. “I have an account and I pay them back a dollar a year for a million years,” Zuckerman said as he eyed Arthur Sulzberger Jr. across the room and noted that “the most memorable meal I ever had was when Arthur Sulzberger picked up the check.” “It’s a great place for business,” explained Sulzberger. “It is the power lunch and has been for a long time.” – From WSJ
