Designed by Patricia Urquiola, these side tables are made from sustainable hardwoods with an MDF top. “Naledi” in Botswana local language means “Star”. The name is derived from the star shaped pattern that is woven through the top using telephone wires. This detail was inspired by the local basket weaving technique employed by basket weavers of Southern Africa.

Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo (Spain) and has lived and worked in Milan for more than 20 years. She attended the School of Architecture of Madrid Polytechnic and Milan Politechnic where she graduated in 1989 with Achille Castiglioni. She has worked with BMW and Kvadrat and designed various products for the Salone del Mobile 2010. She is also working on the scenography of the opera “L’incoronazione di Poppea” by Monteverdi.

She was named Designer of the Year by Wallpaper*, Elle Deco, and Designer of the Decennium 2000-2010 by the German magazine Home and Häuser. Among others, she has received the Red Dot Award and the Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award. Personal exhibitions of her work have been shown all over the world.
