Goldin Auctions auctioned off Muhammad Ali’s “Fight of the Century” gloves for  $606,375, a price $218,000 than when they were last sold in 2014 as ESPN reported. The gloves, which were worn in 1971 during the fight versus Joe Frazier were part of an auction of memorabilia that sold at the combined live and catalog auction for a total of $5.8 million in sales.

“The prices realized in our live and catalog auction this week reinforce that the sports memorabilia market is vibrant and that collectors are not only passionate for rare items from legendary figures like Ruth, Mantle, Jordan, Ali and Gretzky but also the burgeoning market for boxing, hockey and Olympic sports,” said Ken Goldin, Founder of Goldin Auctions.

Other lots included a 1996-97 Michael Jordan Bulls black road uniform (jersey and shorts) from a 4/13/97 game versus Detroit that went for $69,825 and a  1992 USA Basketball game used and signed full uniform (jersey and shorts) for $62,475. A  2014-15 Kobe Bryant game used Lakers home white jersey worn on 11/16/14 when Kobe scored a season high 44 points  sold for $29,400.

According to ESPN, Goldin originally hoped to receive a $1 million bid for the gloves. The current record for Ali gloves are highest price received for a pair of Ali gloves is $836,500 in 2014.
