To commemorate their 165th year anniversary and their first voyage to Asia, Moynat has created a one-of-a-kind trunk. One of the oldest French trunk-makers have been commissioned by Parisian jeweler Chaumet to give shape to this exceptional curvy trunk.

Inspired by a creation from the Chaumet archives of 1919, this piece of high jewelry has been set with 156 brilliant cut diamonds of 30 carats as well as 70 pear-cut diamonds of 60 carats and crafted at the Chaumet atelier on Place Vendôme.

Moynat_Jewelry_Trunk_ChaumetPushing the boundaries of traditional trunk making, this complex trunk incorporates three curved sides paying tribute to Moynat’s signature curved trunks as well as the faceted stones. The frame of the trunk is carved out of poplar and apple wood and clad in vegetal tanned leather that matches Chaumet’s signature lumière color.

Unlike the usual pattern of opening a trunk from the top, this one is devised such that the two sides cantilever sideways to reveal a curved glass vitrine that contains the necklace. As the box opens, the glass vitrine lights up automatically. Other details like the closures, handles and locks have also been worked upon exclusively to Moynat specifications.

Moynat’s trunk for Chaumet’s diamond necklace was shaped up after investing over 500 hours as well as complex techniques including molding panels of wood as well as glass.
