Presenting itself as an example of modern architecture, the Gershenson House is shelter for a retired couple who dreamed about spending their time in privacy, but keep a close connection to the surrounding nature. They commissioned  Merida-based architectural studio Taller de Construccion to design a home on a property in Cholul, Yucatan, Mexico. They imagined a white home, with dark frames and a series of curtain walls, adorned with a pond and garden. This play of exterior/interior spaces break the monotony of everyday life, creating a strong connection between the indoors and outdoors.

The volumetric Mexican property spreads over 270 square meters, where the social, private and service areas all occupy its own volume. Connected by a single transversal circulation, these spaces are as close to the outdoors as possible. Even the building materials come from the premisses – rocks extracted from the excavation site were reused in walls and ended up composing architectural details, creating a genuine dream home.
