Actor Matt Damon and writer/director Cameron Crowe are looking to adapt “We Bought a Zoo,” the memoir by Benjamin Mee, who used his life savings to buy a dilapidated zoo in the English countryside and save over 200 animals from destruction.

Mee recounts how he and his children had to deal such things as escaped tigers, raising endangered animals and getting the zoo ready for opening – as well as caring for his wife, who was dying of brain cancer.

This would be the first film for Crowe since 2005’s “Elizabethtown.”
