Collaborations are a rage especially when it is designed to bridge the gap between two diverse territories. High-end, luxury fashion house Louis Vuitton has teamed up with streetwear brand Supreme for men’s fall runway collection, inspired by New York.Unveiled at the Paris Fashion Week, the collaborative range has been the brainwork of Kim Jones, men’s artistic director at Vuitton. Well, the association of both the brands isn’t new. It all started seventeen years back when Supreme, the New York based skateboarding brand produced skate decks using Louis Vuitton’s famous monogram without their permission. This was followed by a strong warning from Louis Vuitton’s lawyers and a recall of all the products.

Seventeen years later, Supreme and Louis Vuitton have put the past behind them and officially collaborated to unveil co-branded items ranging from apparel, footwear, bags, jerseys, sneakers, keychains, scarves, gloves, wallets, bandanas, hats,an iPhone case and other accessories.

WWD also reports that there are six styles of handbags in the collection, including a backpack, holdall, messenger bag and fanny pack. These come dressed in three variations of Epi leather, black Epi leather and a camouflage fabric woven through with the Supreme logo and the Vuitton monogram.

Since Jones believes that “You can’t have the conversation of New York men’s wear without Supreme right now, because it’s such a massive global phenomenon,” the collection includes Supreme’s red-and-white box logo showing up prominently on the red version alongside smaller white LV initials. The two are printed in black on the dark versions of the bags.

The camouflage version puts on display the Supreme logo on a tan leather patch and LV touch is seen on the strap with yellow stitching and red edges. The house has even produced a red-and-white monogram skateboard with a bespoke trunk and matching tool kit.

Jones also assertes that it was Michael Burke, the chairman and chief executive officer of the house, who came up with the idea of the merging of two divergent brand.
