Limited Edition Steve Jobs Tribute Macbook becomes real

Shortly after the heart and soul of Apple Computers passed away, the web was awash with rumors of a special edition laptop or iPod or even an iPhone that Apple were planning to release. The rumors remained just that – rumors. However a year after his death, the limited edition Steve Jobs tribute Macbook is becoming a reality thanks to Uncover.

Based on the design that was created by a Hong Kong artist and that went viral on the web, the laptop shall feature the Apple logo with Steve’s silhouette in it. Only three laptops have been made by ‘Uncover’ who have also added a quote from Mr. Jobs ‘You can change things’ with laser writing on the Macbook. The quote serves as inspiration to every designer who wish to follow Mr. Jobs design philosophies.

Bidding for the laptops begins at $12,405 and it remains to be seen what price they finally sell for. The MacBooks are of the highest configuration possible with a 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of onboard RAM and a SSD capable of storing 750 GB.

Proceeds from the auction (which can be found here) will be evenly split between the charity ‘Get It Done’ and a fund for ‘SellanApp’ , an organisation that is dedicated to creating iOS apps that don’t have a direct business model, but have a clear societal value.

The entire quote that is printed on the behind of the Macbook, which I could not resist repeating here is as follows –

“When you grow up you, tend to get told that the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world, try not to bash into the walls too much, try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money. That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader, once you discover one simple fact, and that is that everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you. And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use. Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”
