L.A.’s Designer Concept Store, Just One Eye: Destination for Designer Exclusives

Los Angeles has always been known for luxury shopping like Rodeo Drive and upscale Melrose boutiques. But there is only one future concept store that mixes art and fashion all while making you feel like a VIP. Just One Eye, a showroom, gallery and e-commerce shop is a gem hiding in plain site in the former Howard Hughes Headquarters in Hollywood. I paid them a visit last week and let’s just say, like a child at a candy store, I struggled leaving.

After walking through the Hughes energy filled halls, the manager, Julianna greeted me and walked me through each designer- Valentino, Marni, Chloe.. Among the much loved popular crowd, they proudly carry exclusive pieces from Wilfredo Rosado and Alexandre Vauthier among others. I made sure I touched each piece and we chatted about how we would mix and match within each collection. It was as if I was there with a girlfriend, shopping for our next trip to Paris. This type of ease and warmth is unheard of in the upscale luxury retailers and was surprisingly refreshing. The curated items were hand selected by no other than Paola Russo, who wanted to have an approachable high end store with unique and private shopping experience when she co founded Just One Eye. The space went on to curate one-of-a-kind collaborations with Damien Hirst & The Row Backpacks and Nate Lowman & Converse Sneakers. It’s easy to credit her good taste to being 25 years in the fashion business, but it’s her travels that inspire her visionary concepts. The contrasting themes are all done on purpose and are subtly cohesive. Every detail seems to be on purpose, each item is meant for the space. I swooned over Aurelie Demel fur detailed jacket and got to admire one of a kind art pieces like the Fauteuil “Sit” created by Israeli artist Ron Arad in 1990. Vintage furniture is tastefully placed throughout the space and everything is available to purchase. No appointment necessary and everyone is welcome to swoon. Go ahead – touch, shop.. play a little. It’s highly encouraged.
