Only Karl Lagerfeld can think of divas dressed in haute couture heading to supermarkets for grocery shopping! Why else would he transform the Grand Palais into a large Chanel supermarket to stage his autumn/winter 2014 collection in Paris?

Only he could add oomph to a mundane location like a supermarket and give it a Karlistic makeover in form of a Chanel Shopping Center.

Emerging like a typical supermarket, the Chanel store was stocked with double C branded stuff that is never otherwise seen on the runways or in the aisles of the stores! The shelves were loaded with almost everything that is found in your supermarket but with a Chanel tag. Stuff like groceries including eggs, coffee, cereals, ham, breads, cheese and the likes along with doormats inscribed with Mademoiselle Prive were seen in the aisles.

He stated, “Why a supermarket? It is something of today’s life and even people who dress at Chanel go there — it’s a modern statement for expensive things.” Its not only people like you and me, but even the future Queen of England, Kate Middleton, has been spotted shopping groceries at the local supermarket!

Sporting signature Karl style, the clothes were teamed with sneakers and boots also in tweed.

Though the attendees would have loved to walk back home with at least some of the Chanel-goodies from the Chanel Store, it is reported that the brand has plans to donate all the stuff on display to charity.
