Only Karl Lagerfeld can dare to bring Paris in Rome in the most fashionable manner with Chanel’s Paris in Rome 2015/16 Métiers d’Art collection and show. The French luxury fashion house’s Pre-Fall 2016 collection was showcased at the iconic Italian film studio, Cinecittà Roma. The event also marked the debut of Kristen Stewart starring Once and Forever filmchanel-paris-in-rome-metiers-d-art-2015-16-cinecitta-kristen-stewartWhile Kristen Stewart, dressed in a sparkly silver jacket and wide-leg leather pants, Rooney Mara and Princess Alexandra of Hanover dominated the front row at Chanel’s Metiers d’Art Collection, the runway was celebrating with fashion fireworks paying homage to Paris, the ever-reigning fashion capital of the world.chanel-paris-in-rome-metiers-d-art-2015-16-show-decorAccording to WWD the set designed to stage the collection depicted an idealized Paris neighborhood of yore. The all black-and-white decor, an ode to to late French production designer Alexandre Trauner, was complete with cheese shops, wine merchants, bakeries, an oyster bar and a cinema. Models emerged from a Metro staircase and strode by on cobblestoned streets patched with asphalt and dotted with curbside puddles.chanel-paris-in-rome-metiers-d-art-2015-16-cinecitta-12-kristen-stewartDuring a preview of his latest Métiers d’Art collection, Karl stated, “I didn’t know when we started the idea of Paris in Rome that it would be the best moment to show a perfect, romantic Paris when Paris today in reality is the opposite of a romantic city. It’s really unbelievable, no?”

It’s not Rome and alta moda. This has nothing to do with priests.”Chanel_Paris_in_Rome_2015_16_Métiers_d'Art_Show_2Apart from the iconic tweeds designs, other creations that hit the runway includes long tweed vest and pants combo reminiscent of palazzo pajamas, a suite of voluminous pants, slip dresses, one-shoulder tops, black leather mini dresses, peacoats, bulky overcoats and trenches. The knitwear was exceptional, especially gossamer pleated skirts edged in lace and geometric crewnecks topped with elaborate jeweled capelets. WWD also noted that the collection culminated with lace dresses as delicate as negligees and flecked with dark purple ostrich feather.
