It’s time to take some time for yourself and treat yourself to a weekend away. Most of us have been back at work for a few months now and are ready for a change of scenery. Taking time to rest is an essential part of a healthy work-life balance. Sometimes a new adventure or little trip away can make all the difference to your productivity and wellbeing. It’s been a hard year for everyone, and it’s never been more important to prioritise self-care.
Here are a few ways you can make the most out of your weekend away.
Go somewhere new
Grab a train ticket to Gatwick and fly to a new destination for the weekend. Just make sure to check the travel restrictions before you head out! You could head to Scotland, Ireland or even a European city for the weekend.
Try a new activity
It can be easy to get stuck in a rut. Try a new activity on your weekend away, and you never know – it might lead to a whole new hobby. Travel to The Lake District and try out horse-riding, kayaking, or mountain biking if you’re the adventurous type. Or, if you’re going to a city for the weekend, take a cooking class and learn how to make authentic Thai food. Delicious!
Book tourist attractions
Always book your activities and tourist attractions as soon as possible. Book in advance, and you might be able to secure a deal too! Some places are still social distancing and reducing crowds – so there are fewer tickets to go around.
Take someone with you
A solo trip can be an enriching experience. However, you could also take someone you really enjoy spending time with and make great memories with them. After a year away from your loved ones, you might be craving some quality time with your friends and family. Spend a weekend with your sister or best friend, and finally enjoy a catch-up in real life. Say goodbye to Zoom and hello to face-to-face catch-ups.
Decide on a few things you’d like to do together and split up to do your own activities if you have different interests. Finish the trip with a wonderful dinner and cocktail masterclass before heading back to the hotel for the night.
Remember, this weekend is a chance for you to chill out and relax. It can be tempting to pack in activities and leave no time for relaxing. Book a massage or spa afternoon for yourself, so you can spend some quality time with me, myself and I.
Treat yourself to a special weekend away and recharge your batteries.
