Hermès chose the stunning late 18th-century Palazzo Serbelloni in Milan as the atmospheric setting to launch the fourth edition of their home universe, Hermès en lumière, which includes lighting for the first time.

“It’s just a small collection, but it’s very Hermès,” Hélène Dubrule, managing director of Hermès Maison, stated of the luxury lighting line debuting this week at Milan’s Salone del Mobile. “It mingles innovation and the hi-tech with fine craftsmanship. The designers have really entered the world of Hermès.”

Hermès presented three LED lighting collections and although each was very different in form, all exhibited the brand’s DNA with finely crafted materials and frames elegantly wrapped in their signature leather.

One collection, in collaboration with architect Michele de Lucchi, took three years to create. “Every piece had to be engineered and studied very carefully,” said de Lucchi of his six-piece collection. “But designing lamps is always very exciting. It’s the crossing point for many design topics – from technology and sculpture to furnishings.”
