Jerry Thompson and Walker Evans: Pictures of People presents the story of two photographers and the influence of the latter on the former.

The exhibition will run from Oct. 1 to Nov. 27 at The Gallery at Hermès in New York.

Evans was one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century. His work in the 1930s is groundbreaking – traveling throughout the south, capturing street scenes and architecture – but mostly the people of the time. He would go onto work for Time and Fortune, and be a professor at Yale.

Thompson was heavily influenced by Evans. The two met in 1971, when Thompson was a student of Evans. Thompson’s work photographing the streets and people of New York City in the 1970s and 80s is riveting.

Don’t miss this amazing exhibition, which is being put on by the Hermès Foundation.
