Four Seasons Announces Cartagena Project

While the Four Seasons brand often includes newer buildings, one of its most exciting segments is the Four Seasons Historic Hotels collection. Four Seasons has been gathering buildings around the world whose origins range from the fifteenth to the early twentieth centuries. The newest announcement is a luxury hotel and private residences in Cartagena, Columbia, one of South America’s most historic and attractive seaside cities.

The Four Seasons Hotel and Private Residences Cartagena will restore several culturally significant buildings dating as far back as the 16th century, including the Cloister of Saint Francis (Claustro de San Francisco); the Club Cartagena, a 1920s Beaux Arts masterpiece; and four renowned theatres: Teatro Cartagena, Teatro Calamarí, Teatro Bucanero and Teatro Rialto. The plans will retain the buildings’ iconic facades and historic architecture.

Four Seasons is partnering with Valorem on the build. The hotel will feature designs by François Catroux and Wimberly Interiors and will have 131 rooms, including a Royal Suite and a Presidential Suite and six restaurant and cafe options. A rooftop pool will offer unobstructed views of the Cartagena Bay and the ancient walled city.

There will be 16 private residences, and this is the first branded residence opportunity in the city. Four Seasons currently has two other properties in Columbia located in Bogata.
