The festive season is inching closer and it is time to plan for the same. Claridge’s, the most iconic 5 star hotel in Mayfair London has roped in designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana to design their 2013 Christmas tree.

The duo will step in the shoes of British floral designers McQueens, Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz and Dior’s John Galliano who all have designed X’mas trees for the hotel earlier. The Claridge’s Christmas tree has always garnered attention of visitors and Londoners alike during the holiday season. The 2013 tree will depict iconic elements from a traditional Christmas tree reinterpreted with Sicilian elements that draw on the Italian heritage of the designers. It will be ornamented with hand-crafted Sicilian puppets known as ‘pupi’, hand-painted Italian festive glass baubles and a bespoke multi-colored ‘luminarie’ framework created in southern Italy.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana  speak about their creation, “When we think of London we always think of Claridge’s and of its typically English atmosphere that fascinates us and makes us fall in love with the city every time as if it were the first. Our Christmas tree isn’t only a celebration of Christmas as we celebrate it in Italy, but it’s at the same time a tribute to the artisanal Italian tradition, the same that we love to export worldwide with everything we do”.

While Claridge’s General Manager, Thomas Kochs states, “We are delighted to welcome Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana to spread their special Christmas magic in our lobby this year. Both Claridge’s and Dolce&Gabbana are synonymous with timeless glamour, innovative spirit and traditional family values that are so important at this time of year.”
Guests can marvel at the magnificent designer tree from November 26th 2013 onward.
