Daily Dream Home: Modern Farmhouse

The modern farmhouse trend has dominated the design world in recent years. The interesting thing about this design shift is that it does seem to span across all budgets. We’ve seen absolutely adorable and relatively inexpensive tiny farmhouse-styled homes and on the opposite end, the farmhouse taken to the height of luxury.

While farmhouse isn’t exactly an architectural style, it does have a few design hallmarks. Today’s home in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles was inspired by a fantasy of a Napa Valley farmhouse.

The estate was designed by Philip Vertoch who has created a variety of lavish homes in Los Angeles. This home is located in the Lower Mandeville Canyon neighborhood.

The eight-bedroom main home includes the use of luxury materials like rich stone, reclaimed wood and marble, and top-of-the-line appliances. As with all farmhouses, the kitchen is the heart of the home with a large island that is a great place for food preparation or entertaining.

A temperature-controlled wine room is an ideal spot to enjoy the finest vintages.

The property was designed with excellent indoor and outdoor flow, with a variety of intimate gathering spots.

Beyond the eight-bedroom main residence lies a covered loggia that leads to the property’s pool, spa, cabana and 924 square-foot guest home, all of which are surrounded by verdant and manicured landscaping. The property offers treetop and distant ocean vistas.

This residence is listed with Jennifer Pinckert Tierney and Kale Mendeleyev of Compass for $23,495,000.
