Chef José Andrés Launches Zarabanda Craft Beer With Deschutes BreweryJosé Andrés is the latest star chef to enter the beverage business with the launch of a Spain-inspired craft beer.

Oregon-based Deschutes Brewery tapped the chef widely considered Spain’s culinary ambassador to the US, to lend his name and star power to Zarabanda, named after a type of Spanish dance.

According to the Washingtonian, the new brew is meant to evoke “Spain’s relaxed lifestyle.”

The six per cent alcohol brew is described as having notes of pink peppercorn, lemon verbena, sumac and dried lemon.

The beer is set to launch in the fall, with an initial distribution limited to the local area, before perhaps expanding online.

Andrés follows in the footsteps of his mentor Ferran Adrià, who collaborated with Barcelona-based brewery Estrella Damm to create Inedit, a beer flavoured with coriander, orange peel and liquorice developed specifically to accompany fine-dining cuisine.
