Chanel Transforms The Grand Palais Into A Forest

With a damp, earthy floor, mossy trees, lichen-covered twigs and fallen leaves, Chanel transformed the Grand Palais into an autumnal forest as a backdrop to its Fall/Winter 2018-2019 show.

After a set inspired by the Verdon Gorge last season, Karl Lagerfeld has once again demonstrated his love of nature by transforming the Grand Palais into a forest full of soft, autumnal scents. Nine real oak trees were imported from Perche Natural Park, and 508 poplar wood benches were made for the show. Thousands of fallen leaves covered the catwalk right up to the guests’ feet, and rays of sunlight gently lit up the rustic backdrop. Even the walls were covered in huge, lifelike photos of foggy forests. An impressive set, as we’ve come to expect from Karl Lagerfeld’s Chanel shows.
