Beats Electronics, the high-end headphone company co-founded by Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, has released the next generation of its original Studio headphones. The new Studio will be the first update to the game-changing headphones since they were introduced in 2008.

“Music is my first love,” said Dr. Dre. “It’s how artists and producers communicate with their fans, but if the sound isn’t right then the emotion isn’t right and the meaning gets lost in translation.”

“With the original Studio headphone we set out to prove that people all around the world care enough about sound to invest in it – and we did,” said Jimmy Iovine. “Now we are taking it a step further. The new Studio is tuned with balance, accuracy and emotion, has a breathtaking design and truly innovative technology. This is the sound of the future.”

The new Studio gets a revamped design with lighter materials and a 20-hour battery. The new design offers increased strength and flexibility. Also, there are no visible screws. Additionally, the headphones are 20% lighter than the previous generation.

Each pair of headphones takes advantage of Beats’ new Beats Acoustic Engine, a custom digital software package that processes tunes in a new and different way, improving the sound quality from the original Studio.

The 20-hour battery can be recharged in any USB port or outlet, and the headphones feature an auto on/off feature that automatically shuts down the headphone once it is unplugged.

The new Studio headphones will be available in August 2013. The cost will be $300, and you can get them in black, white or red.
