Andy Warhol’s painting of an oversized Coke bottle – appropriately titled ‘Coca-Cola (3)’- is expected to sell for $60 million at auction next month in New York.
The November 12 auction at Christie’s will feature a variety of postwar and contemporary art, but its Warhol’s ‘Coca-Cola (3)’ that will be the star.
Painted in 1962 by Warhol, ‘Coca-Cola (3)’ depicts a stark, black bottle on a white 6-foot-tall canvas.
Warhol’s works continue to be some of the best selling in the world. In 2012 his pieces sold for more than $380 million at auction worldwide, including nine works that sold for in excess of $10 million.
