Candy Spelling, the widow of producer Aaron Spelling, gave US television viewers a glimpse behind the doors of her $150 million, 56,500-square-foot French chateau-style mansion, named The Manor. Among the highlights of the property, which is nestled in the exclusive Holmby Hills neighbourhood, and sits on 4.6 acres, include THREE gift-wrapping rooms, a bowling alley, wine cellar, wine-tasting room and a humidity-controlled silver storage room. The attic – itself 17,000 sq ft – includes a barbershop and a beauty salon.
And the three-storey home, built in 1991, also includes an entire wing for servants, with a kitchen and seven bedrooms just for employees, and five fireplaces and four wet bars.
It also has a room dedicated to her collection of bone china, as well as a screening room, a library, gym and media room, and a kitchen bigger than most restaurants. Outside, the property has a tennis court, fountains, a waterfall, a pool and spa, a reflection pool and a pool house with a kitchen, and 16 car ports. The estate also boasts an 18th century-style garden, a rooftop rose garden and a citrus orchard. And there is a motor court – with parking for more than 100 cars. The home is the largest single family home in Los Angeles County. Spelling’s new memoir, Stories from Candyland, is out now in the US.
