Sip, don’t shoot, 1800 Tequila’s newest blend. The extra añejo 1800 Colección is a newly-released limited batch of just 40 bottles, each of which comes with a one-of-a-kind pewter decanter designed by celebrated artist Gary Baseman.

The limited edition luxury won’t come cheap — $2,000 a bottle — but offers a look into 1800’s dedication to creating the perfect spirit; the anejo is aged for more than three years in charred French Oak barrels for the perfect finish.

To accompany the spirit, 1800 appointed acclaimed artist Gary Baseman to create an accompanying piece. Baseman designed a pewter decanter he calls “Sirena Del Deseo” (translates to “Mermaid of Desire”), which tells the tragic story of true love and the fight to achieve it. This tale, about a Mexican warrior who perishes in the sea after traveling into the ocean depths in search of his enchanted mermaid, was the brainchild of Baseman, who was inspired by a trip to Mexico to witness the 1800 Tequila production process.

What do you think? Would you shell out $2,000 for tequila, even if it came with limited-edition art?
